Keane Fire and Safety services kitchen fire suppression systems for schools, restaurants, cafeterias and other facilities where a kitchen is utilized. Our certified fire protection specialists can assess your facility and maintain your system to comply with all state and local codes.

Kitchen Fire Suppression System Service
Keane Technicians perform semi-annual inspections, hydro test, refills, updates, alterations and repairs to your kitchen fire suppression system. Our system techs are licensed, trained and experienced to service your fire suppression system. We can certify that your suppression system is compliant, installed correctly and meets N.F.P.A. 96, 17A and UL 300 standards and codes. We replace fusible links every six months and nozzle covers as required.
All work is performed by Keane technicians in our shop and at your facility. We provide 24 hour emergency service for our current customers. Early a.m. service is no problem for us.
The UL 300 Standards
Recent changes in commercial cooking have lead to the use of healthier vegetable oils over animal fats for frying and cooking. These vegetable oils burn at higher temperatures than animal fats, making vegetable oil fires more difficult to extinguish.
Additionally, modern cooking appliances are heavily insulated to save energy. This insulation keeps contents hotter for longer periods of time. When modern appliances malfunction the contents are hotter and tend to reflash, making these fires harder to extinguish.
Wet chemical is the most effective method of extinguishing commercial cooking fires as tested by the UL 300 testing protocol. The standards do not require system replacement for existing old style systems. However, if modern cooking appliances are installed and the old system is deemed “non-compliant” a modern UL 300 approved system should be installed.
